Hello Hello I’m biba from Japan!
Currently live in NYC!

Since coming to New York, it has been my custom to explore restaurants with my husband on Saturdays and Sundays☺.

So I would like to introduce some restaurant recommendations by area.

This time, we will summarize restaurants in Soho and East Village area!

Where is Soho and East Village

Soho and East Village are the areas shown in the figure in orange and yellow.

Recommended Restaurants

Ramen Ishida

For light ramen, go to Ramen Ishida.

It is light, but full of rich, delicate flavor and aroma!

The signature dish is New Tokyo Style Shōyu Ramen↓.

Miso and Shio Ramen are also available.

Highly recommended☺.

TabeTomo

I would recommend TabeTomo for kotteri ramen.

Personally, it is the No. 1 ramen restaurant in NYC! (Because I love kotte Ramen!).

The ramen itself is so good that I could get addicted to it,

The service is also very good, with the grated garlic and vinegar as a service to change the flavor.

The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is good.

The prices are also reasonable.

We ordered tongkotsu jiro ramen↓.

In addition, we also serve chashujiro ramen, tsukemen, and snacks such as fried chicken ☺.

It would be great to visit in the evening, enjoy beer and snacks instead of an izakaya, and finish with ramen!

Okiboru House of Tsukemen

This is a tsukemen restaurant.

I was a Mita Seimen lover, and the tsukemen here was a hit with me.

For tsukemen, I recommend Okiboru House of Tsukemen.

The thick, rich broth is perfect with the noodles☺.

If you have a craving for tsukemen, please visit Okiboru House of Tsukemen! I recommend you to go there on a day when you want to eat tsukemen!

Hanoi House

This is a Vietnamese restaurant.

It is located near TabeTomo, which I introduced earlier.

It is currently the number one Vietnamese restaurant in NYC☺.

It is relatively affordable and tasty. Everything we ate was delicious.

The pictures do not do it justice.

Crispy Spring Rolls
Chicken Pho
Classic Hanoi Style Beef Pho

The Signature of the restaurant is Beef Pho.

You can choose two or three types of meat from several varieties.

We chose two types of meat (Brisket and Oxtail, the restaurant’s recommendation).

*Brisket: beef breast

*Oxtail: tail of beef

Both were tender and delicious.

Egg Coffee

Egg Coffee originated in Hanoi and is a traditional arrangement of coffee brewed in a Vietnamese-style apparatus with egg yolks and condensed milk whisked together.

I tried it for the first time and it was very creamy! Highly Recommended after dinner!

Village Taverna

This is a Greek restaurant.

First of all, the restaurant is stylish and cute!

For our meal, we tried a typical Greek dish called Souvlaki.

It is like yakitori (grilled chicken) in Japan, with the meat cut into small pieces and grilled on skewers.

CHICKEN SOUVLAKI
SOUVLAKI PLATTER

The second was pork skewers.

The pork was more succulent and I personally liked it.

If you are interested in trying Greek food, please visit ☺.

I have looked into the typical dishes for your reference.

  • MOUSAKA…Vegetable dish that is similar to lasagna gratin.
  • YEMISTA…Yemista means “stuffing” and is an oven-baked dish of tomatoes and peppers stuffed with rice and ground beef.
  • GYRO (Gyros)…A chunk of pork or other meat sliced in layers, grilled over an open fire while being rotated, and then shaved from the burned parts. It is similar to a kebab.
  • DOLMADES…Grape leaves wrapped with fried minced meat, vegetables, rice, etc. and steamed. Image like a chimaki (rice cake).

Veselka

This is a Ukrainian restaurant.

It seems to be a popular restaurant and there is a line at meal times.

Typical Ukrainian dishes are as follows

  • Borsch…soup dish. It is said to be as essential to the dining table as miso soup is in Japan.
  • VARENYKY…A traditional dumpling dish. It is prepared by wrapping ingredients such as potatoes, cabbage, cheese, and fruits.
  • HOLUBTSI (Golubtsi)…A cabbage roll-like dish
  • BEEF STROGANOFF (Ukrainian style beef stroganoff)

We ordered cabbage rolls and beef stroganoff!

It was dusty, homey, and delicious☺.

It is a popular restaurant and I encourage everyone to visit!

Cafe Mogador

This is a Moroccan restaurant.

This is also a popular restaurant and there is a line at lunch time.

Reservations can only be made for a certain number of people, so you basically have to Walk In to get in.

Typical dishes of Moroccan cuisine are

  • CousCous
  • BASTILA…a pie baked with chicken (traditionally pigeon), almonds, etc.
  • TAGINES…meat and vegetables simmered in a clay pot
Moroccan Benedict
Country Breakfast
Turkish Coffee

I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant,

including the coffee, it was very tasty and unique in a good way☺.

I would like to try the traditional dishes next time!

Le Coucou

Although it is a Michelin restaurant, I personally like the fact that it is not too formal.

There is no course menu, and everything is a la carte.

Really recommended for special occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays☺.
