Hello Hello I’m biba from Japan!
Currently live in NYC!
How do you spend special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries?
In our case, my husband and I are both foodies so it is customary to have a luxurious meal at a fine restaurant.
I’d like to share our experience at a French restaurant “Le Coucou”, which earns one Michelin star in 2023.

My Experience
We went there for lunch on an anniversary.
The signature are;
- Vol-au-vent “Coucou”
“Vol-au-vent” is a small hollow case of puff pastry
- Canette Montmorency
Canette means “duckling”
Montmorency is one of the area in France.
We chose two entrees and the signature “Canette Montmorency” for our main.
I would like to try Vol-au-vent “Coucou” another time.
Beautiful dishes!
“Cannet Montmorency” was very tasty. You can enjoy different parts of a duck.
And for dessert, we had a millefeuille.
When we got to the restaurant, I told our server “today is our anniversary”, then he prepared the dessert with “Happy anniversary” on the plate! Surprise!
I found the staffs there were very attentive to detail.
The millefeuille was crispy and fluffy, and the cream was rich.
Before coming to the restaurant, I had expected that we are not allowed to share dishes but actually we could.
Reasons to Recommend
- All the dishes we had were delicious
- The beautiful, romantic atmosphere
- The service was perfect
- Chic yet not too formal
There is a dress code (see below), but it was not too formal at lunch.
I found most of the people coming there dressed nicely. For example, collared shirts for men and elegant styles for women.
- The dishes can be shared
You can try various dishes.
